Application Support Developer (TMS) at FST Logistics in Columbus, Ohio

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Application Support Developer to provide fast and effective support and build improvements for our Transportation Management System. As an Application Developer, you will be required to respond to support requests in person and over the phone, assess and diagnose software issues, implement enhancements and upgrades, install TMS software, consult the transportation business, and assist in implementing projects as both a team member. You may also be required to provide basic software training, as well as miscellaneous transportation-related support.

To ensure success as an Application Support Developer, you should have advanced knowledge of TruckMate TMS by Trimble preferably, or other TMS solutions. This position requires excellent logical, analytical, and organizational skills, as well as high-level communication and project management skills. Collaboration with senior developers, other team members, and the business. You will be held accountable to comply with all defined business processes and the utilization of all technology platforms, as defined by FST.?Ultimately, a skilled Application Developer provides fast and effective support over the phone and in person.

Time spent for assigned duties and responsibilities are estimated as follows:
Working with Internal End-Users 80%
Working with Outside Vendors/Contractors 15%
Working with Customers 5%

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility is to manage incoming transportation related service requests; evaluate, prioritize, resolve/implement (with assistance from vendor if necessary), and provide feedback to the user.
Build or assist in building custom enhancements related to TMS systems in the form of KPIs, functions, stored procedures, triggers and other database objects.
Interacting with the business and team members in person, over the phone, via email, Teams messaging, via web conferencing and any other communication solutions required.
Creating and writing SQL scripts to resolve issues, not limited select statements.
Create and update views in DB2 for BI ETL.
Installation and configuration of TruckMate TMS software on PCs.
The role may assist with delegated tasks from senior developers. May assist and delegate to junior developers.
The role will be involved with upgrades, patches, and other application infrastructure tasks and technologies which may need to be installed and supported.
The role will assist with project management tracking in Jira
The role may act as liaison between business and senior developer on some projects.
You will be held accountable to comply with all defined business processes and the utilization of all technology platforms, as defined by FST.
Duties can also include TMS support beyond TruckMate, including but no limited to, McLeod and TMW.Suite, and other industry TMS applications.

Requirements:?

Minimum of 3 years of experience in an end-user technical support role, 2-year technical degree, advanced knowledge of TMW TruckMate modules, or a combination.
Experience supporting a TMS is required.
Experience writing SQL select statements, executing scripts and overall understanding of SQL and relational database systems.
2+ years of experience with DB2 required.
Strong customer service skills, professionalism, and friendly desk-side manner are a must.
Understanding of upgrading and patching of enterprise software systems (including maintaining a test environment) preferred.
Understanding of enterprise software infrastructure preferred.
Strong written, verbal communication, and time management skills.
