Weight Training Instructor - Whitehall YMCA at Young Mens Christian Association of Central Ohio in Whitehall, Ohio

Job Description:

The WOW (Women on Weights) Instructor will lead women in strength training classes designed to improve both physical health and mental well-being. As an instructor, you will create a supportive, family-like environment where participants can build confidence, foster relationships, and improve their fitness. You will guide women through workouts that help build healthy muscle and empower them to reach new personal goals. The WOW program has a long history of transforming lives, with participants experiencing improved health, increased strength, and a strong sense of community.

Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.

Designs, prepares, and delivers class routines as directed by the supervisor that meet all the necessary components and safe guidelines in accordance with current accepted practices of exercise physiology.

Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA

Engages the members and supports them in achieving their goals related to healthy living

Maintains valid national certification specific to the class format they are delivering at all times as well as a working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

Record accurate class attendance and maintain a minimum of 60% target attendance with continual growth.

Instructs a minimum of 2 classes per week (8/month) including but not limited to at least one sub shift per quarter, and appropriately securing a substitute instructor for own classes when needed.

Begins and ends class at the scheduled time.

Where needed, sets up equipment for class, assists members in cleaning equipment before and after class.

Maintains equipment and keeps the group exercise area clean.

Participates in Community Outreach campaign and shares announcements as directed by supervisor

Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
