The Town of Sheridan Highway Department is accepting applications for a full time
Motor Equipment Operator Applicants must possess a valid CDL class B license. Mechanical skills and construction experience are a plus. Job duties include: plowing snow, paving, roadside mowing, operating equipment and vehicle maintenance. This full time job includes a complete benefit package including NYS Retirement.
Starting pay would be $20.91 minimum, increasing at the*first of the year. One year of probation.*
Work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation and care of heavy automotive equipment in the performance of assigned tasks.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Operates a truck in connection with the hauling of material for road construction and repair; Performs minor mechanical repairs on automotive equipment; On assignment operates loader, roller, or other heavy equipment; Services assigned vehicle and maintains it in clean condition; Loads and unloads trucks; Performs a variety of simple manual tasks, such as cleaning culverts, shoveling snow, painting and road maintenance work;
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of the operation, general maintenance, and servicing of heavy automotive equipment; ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written instructions; mechanical aptitude; industry and dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
