SA-TECH supports munitions delivery training for Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps air and ground crews through USAF Air Combat Command's Primary Training Ranges (PTRs). We deliver OM&S services to PTR bombing and gunnery (B&G) ranges and electronic warfare (EW) ranges, supporting remote threat emitters, mission data processing, range communications, weapons impact and electronic combat scoring.
We are currently seeking to hire a Range Control Officer (RCO)on a part-time basis (24 hours/week) to help with range operations and safety at our range at Holloman AFB, NM.
Typical job duties include (but are not limited to):
Responsible for range operations and safety, except in situations where weapons release clearance responsibility is transferred to other Weapons Release Authority.
Issue instructions that ensure a safe environment where disparate on-going operational and maintenance activity occur simultaneously.
Coordinate range user activity, develop, brief and publish schedules, inspect and prepare targets for use.
Perform facility and equipment checklists, report outages, maintain logs and collect data.
Assist or supplement personnel in operating WISS Scoring, PITS, vehicle and equipment maintenance, landscaping and housekeeping.
Will be qualified as a Wildland Firefighter II.
Work is performed under minimum supervision or following specific procedures or detailed instructions.
Maintain a close watch over air and ground activity and always be aware to prevent intrusion of unknown aircraft and/or ground personnel.
Obtain and disseminate schedules and other information in a timely manner that allows for safe and efficient range operations.
Brief visitors and on-coming crews at shift change and other times as needed.
Develop, implement, or revise working documents such as range opening and closing checklists, events logs etc., in compliance with management approval, applicable regulations, and operations plans.
Submit official recommendations for changes, if needed, as per regulation or program policy at the outset when changes are required.
Inspect strafe pits, all communications equipment involving RCO operations and the effective operation of the digital voice recorder.
Verify all checklist items are ready for action and report equipment outages to the appropriate personnel and management.
Document in detailed descriptive word picture without abbreviation, the movement of aircraft, ground personnel, emergencies, deliveries, equipment outages, accidents, visitors and their intentions and any unusual event in the Events log and the RCO log as appropriate.
Document range maintenance in the range maintenance log, distribute and file all reports, maintain and make new files as needed.
Must be able to quickly analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action for safety and efficiency at any given point in time.
Work Conditions:
The working conditions will vary as the bulk of the duties will be accomplished from the control tower, but there may be some outdoor activity, as well.
Ability to perform long periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching and lifting in an outdoor environment.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Job demands will require physical dexterity and flexibility.
Must be physically able to sit, stand, kneel and climb.
Overtime required at times to support operations.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/Skills:
High School Diploma.
Minimum 2-3 years' experience in one of the following: rated aircrew, Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), Enlisted Terminal Attack Controller (ETAC) or Air Traffic Controller (ATC) in the management, supervision or control of air operations on a conventional or tactical military range.
Able to operate UHF, VHF, FM, LMR and telephonic two-way communications equipment.
A working knowledge of range scoring systems, range target systems, and emergency response actions.
Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
