Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of construction projects, including heavy-civil, bridges, road construction, airport construction, sitework, railroad, underground utilities, site development, excavation, wet and dry utilities, pipeline, roadways, concrete estimating, and bridge projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction and estimating, and will be able to work collaboratively with other team members to deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
Perform cost estimates and prepare bids for a wide range of construction projects including heavy-civil, bridges, road construction, airport construction, sitework, railroad, underground utilities, site development, excavation, wet and dry utilities, pipeline, roadways, concrete estimating, and bridge projects.
Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and the materials and equipment required.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to identify potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities.
Prepare detailed takeoffs and estimates, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all calculations.
Provide guidance and support to project teams during the bidding and pre-construction phases of projects.
Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of materials and services.
Participate in project meetings and provide input on cost-related issues and concerns.
Maintain accurate records of all estimates, including bid documents, addendums, and other relevant information.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy-civil estimating, with a strong background in bridges, road construction, airport construction, sitework, railroad, underground utilities, site development, excavation, wet and dry utilities, pipeline, roadways, concrete estimating, and bridge projects.
Experience with HCESS (health, safety, environment, security, and sustainability) regulations and requirements.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex project plans and specifications.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as B2W, HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and On-Screen Takeoff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Experience with construction management software, such as Procore or PlanGrid, is a plus.
