Job Description

The Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Department (PERA) is seeking an individual with experience in working within a community of diverse students and colleagues. Successful candidates will by their administrative, coaching, leadership or service demonstrate they can contribute to the diversity and excellence of athletics, the department and our community.


The PERA Department is currently accepting applications for a full-time non-tenure track appointment as Head Coach of Women's Swimming & Diving/PERA Assistant Professor of the Practice. At Wellesley College, non-tenure track positions are full members of the faculty on continuing long-term contracts.



Responsibilities: Managing all aspects of a Division III women's swimming & diving program, including but not limited to coaching, practice organization, recruiting, player skill/leadership development, and supervision of assistant coaches. The successful candidate will also encourage
academic and athletics excellence and adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the College, NCAA and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. Additionally, teaching as part of the required Physical Education curriculum, service on department and college committees and professional development are expected.



Qualifications: Master's degree in physical education, sports management or related field,Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructorand CPR/AED certifications are required. Demonstrated experience coaching, recruiting, and teaching in Physical Education. Experience in student-athlete leadership development programming is highly valued. All candidates should possess an understanding of the role Physical Education and Athletics play in a rigorous academic setting with an ability to identify and attract outstanding students to one of the nation's top liberal arts colleges that has international prominence.



Start Date: July 1, 2024. Competitive salary and benefits package for full-time faculty appointment commensurate with qualifications.
