Job Description As the Quality Manager at KC Jones Plating Company in Columbia City, IN, you will take a hands-on approach to ensuring the highest standards of product quality. In this full-time, on-site position, you will work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal procedures. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being actively involved in the day-to-day operations, without the responsibility of managing a large team.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and perform hands-on quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities, ensuring that all products meet or exceed quality standards.
Develop and implement quality management systems in compliance with industry standards, including ISO and other applicable regulations.
Conduct routine inspections of production processes and finished products, identifying areas for improvement.
Collaborate directly with production staff and engineers to resolve quality-related issues quickly and effectively.
Implement testing protocols for raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
Lead initiatives to improve product quality through continuous improvement methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma.
Maintain and manage quality documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective action records.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external quality audits, customer inquiries, and compliance assessments.
Promote a strong culture of quality throughout the organization by actively engaging with team members on the shop floor.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in quality assurance and control within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, ASTM).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with production staff.
Hands-on experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
Ability to work independently in a small company environment where collaboration and flexibility are key.
