1901 designs, builds, installs, and services Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPF) systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional applications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking an experienced fire protection designer with some experience in project management. You will design fire protection systems for our design-build projects and work with internal staff to develop submittals, shop drawings, BIM models, and field coordination drawings. Ideally, we want someone who enjoys being hands-on with projects to ensure project deadlines and milestones are met.
Prepare fire protection system layouts and detailed drawings and schematics to produce a complete set of construction drawings in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Perform accurate design calculations, including hydraulic calculations
Procurement of necessary equipment and materials
Attend and participate in job meetings as required for each project
Inspect the job site regularly for contract compliance, workmanship, and safety
Estimate changes in the scope of work
Maintain professional rapport with architects, engineers, general contractors, building owners, installers and suppliers.
Manage projects from $25,000 to $5M.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Solid understanding of the construction process in its entirety
Knowledge of fire protection systems and code requirements.
Experience in fire sprinkler design using HydraCad, BIM, and Navisworks is preferred but not required.
3+ years of experience with Fire Protection Design
Some exposure to Project Management is a plus
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Must possess exceptional oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Computer skills, including Microsoft office Suite, Bluebeam, Navisworks
Knowledge of Acubid is a plus
