Job Description:

The McShin Foundation is looking for a dynamic and dedicated Development Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in development, marketing, and event management. Experience in nonprofit and/or addiction recovery is a plus. The Development Manager will role support our CEO and COO in fundraising and marketing efforts that align with foundation goals for development and operations. This role is vital in securing donations, managing our social media presence, coordinating events, overseeing marketing vendors and relationships, and fostering community outreach. We are looking for an innovative ambitious person who prioritizes continuous improvement and can manage job responsibilities independently.

About McShin: Founded in 2004, The McShin Foundation is Virginia's leading non-profit, full-service Recovery Community Organization (RCO), committed to serving individuals and families in their fight against Substance Use Disorders (SUDs). We provide the tools for recovering individuals to create positive lifestyles, spread the word about recovery, and educate families, communities, and government regarding SUDs. Our services include a 28-day recovery program, Richmond sober living in recovery houses, and partnerships with leading physicians for drug & alcohol detox. McShin is the only RCO in Virginia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Peer Recovery Support Services (CAPRSS).

Responsibilities:

Donations and Fundraising:
  • Develop and stewardship of donor and corporate sponsor relationships.
  • Coordinate fundraising communications.
  • Generate donation receipts for financial or item donations.
  • Maintain communication with donors and manage donor database.
  • Support CEO in grant research and writing.
  • Coordinate with the CEO and the team to capitalize on grant opportunities.

Event Management:
  • Schedule, prepare, promote, and execute community and fundraising events to meet organizational goals
  • Building and maintaining sponsor relationships
  • Coordinate and communicate with volunteers, nonprofit organizations, sponsors, and vendors
  • Market events to participants, alumni, and target markets to ensure community awareness and growth of the brand

Social Media Management:
  • Manage editorial calendar for social media that promotes the mission, supports organizational goals, and provides updates on events and foundation activities.
  • Manage McShin's profiles and social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and X pages with approval from the CEO.
  • Manage and create content for McShin's YouTube and TikTok pages.

Communication and Community Outreach:
  • Serve as an ambassador for the McShin Foundation, spreading the mission and building relationships with the community.
  • Manage marketing materials and promotional materials.
  • Create and distribute a monthly newsletter.
  • Promote public relations with community stakeholders, including physicians, volunteers, clergy, religious groups, community leaders, and other referral sources.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Canva, Microsoft Office Suite, and Constant Contact or other email marketing programs.
  • Ability to work independently and under supervision from the CEO and COO.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor when engaging with the team, participants, and the public.
  • Ability to engage with individuals in crises with calmness and empathy.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must understand and effectively carry out foundation policies.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the foundation team and external partners.
