The Plant Process Engineer for coatings is responsible for the standardization and operations of coating tubing. Along with special engineering projects
Primary Responsibilities:
Utilize engineering disciplines to trouble shoot shop floor activities and improve shop floor through put to reduce costs
Interacts with CoC Engineering on new programs related to PPAP and process items
Creates or constructs process flows and process failure mode effective analysis (PFMEA)
Communicates foreseen issues with Technical Manager for discussion and possible resolution
Manages projects for new and existing coating equipment within the plant
Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decision
Works on continuous improvement programs and cost reduction projects
Disassembly and repair of mechanical systems of coating lines
Adjust, modify settings of coating lines to create quality product.
Control and manage tooling inventory
Report and maintain target OEE and scrap
Tracks progress, status and reports on small diameter coating lines
Leads troubleshooting issues on new and existing coating lines
May work with laboratory in conducting material and product test and evaluations
Works closely with shift supervisors and department managers to ensure proper quality operations of materials and equipment
Assist plant technical manager on assigned projects
Initiates projects and tasks through creative insight, leveraging manufacturing and product knowledge
Confirms feasibility/capability of proposed product/process improvements using statistical methods
Reports status and progress of projects monthly through Project Status Report
May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering required. Acceptable disciplines include Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing
Experience with extrusion equipment and coating equipment.
Knowledge of Eddy current testing preferred.
Knowledge of Metallurgy preferred.
Exemplary hands-on mechanical skills and an understanding of mechanical systems
Proficient in, Auto CAD/Inventor experience, Microsoft Office
Proficient in reading and creating mechanical drawings with using proper GD&T.
Ability to lead projects with notable risk and complexity
Must be able to present and communicate complex engineering principles and analyses to cross functional teams
