This is an onsite position that will require 35% travel both domestically and internationally.
Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Vice President of Engineering:
Lead Engineering Team: Provide guidance and leadership to improve the efficiency of product design, development, and new product launches.
Develop Leadership: Foster technical, managerial, and leadership growth to build the next generation of leadership within SDC.
Collaboration: Work closely with teams to align product development with market needs.
Oversee Product Development: Manage the product development process, including resource allocation, prioritization, cost estimation, and product launches.
Strategic Partnerships: Establish and manage relationships with strategic partners to enhance SDC's capabilities and jointly develop new offerings.
Ensure Product Certification: Coordinate with government affairs and regulatory bodies to ensure product compliance and certification (AHRI, EPA, DOE, etc.).
Budget & Resource Management: Oversee the department's operating budget, headcount, and work plans to ensure alignment with goals.
Managerial Development: Improve manager effectiveness through mentorship, training, and performance monitoring.
Technical Leadership: Empower teams to solve engineering issues, set technical priorities, and guide the department in resolving complex technical challenges.
External Collaboration: Actively engage with key stakeholders across a variety of departments to keep teams informed and maintain positive working relationships.
Required Skills for the Vice President of Engineering:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required; MBA preferred.
5+ years of experience in executive level roles.
10+ years of experience in a product design and development role, preferably within the HVAC industry.
Engineering and product development experience is required.
IOT experience is a big plus.
Demonstrated track record of leading a diverse team to successful outcomes.
Success managing P&L responsibilities.
Excellent presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
