Vice President - System Technology - Information Technology

The Aspirus Vice President of System Technology is a key IT leadership role and partners with the CIO to drive Aspirus' strategic direction and IT alignment. While the role has responsibility for technical functions, Aspirus is seeking a well-rounded IT leader that can contribute to many aspects of this 360-person division with an annual operating budget of $109 million.

This role is responsible for delivering and optimizing technologies and IT services, including networking, data centers, servers, storage, IT devices, endpoints, service desk, and Microsoft collaboration apps.

This role aligns technology vision with business strategy, leading a team to maximize strategic and operational performance. Reporting to the CIO, the VP oversees all aspects of existing enterprise technology, advises on technology-related issues, and contributes to IT strategy and planning. They also manage teams responsible for architecture, engineering, networking, telecommunication, desktop engineering, IT service desk, providing guidance on service development, integration, capital spending, information security, and operational procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategy and Planning: Assist with strategic technological planning, prioritizing initiatives, and developing a technology plan. Develop and communicate business/technology alignment plans. Assist with executing an enterprise-wide IT disaster recovery and business continuity plan. Develop and communicate strategic and technical directions for IT and related technologies.
  • Acquisition and Deployment: Facilitate development and maintenance of a technology playbook for onboarding acquired organizations. Communicate risks and develop business case justifications for technology spending. Define requirements for new technology implementations and standardize maintenance contracts. Define corporate procedures, policies, and standards for technology acquisition and operation.
  • Operational Management: Provide oversight for desktop and end user computing environment operations and support. Ensure reliable IT service delivery and maintain a standard catalog of technical services. Establish high-quality work standards, evaluate policies and procedures, and conduct industry research. Analyze and improve technology standards, act as primary liaison for IT vision, and resolve technical problems. Manage the current compute environment to maintain good working order, proactively manage lifecycles, and keep the compute environment secure.
  • Financial and Risk Management: Develop, track, and control annual operating and capital budgets. Supervise IT staff recruitment, development, and retention. Own technical design and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Own and manage the IT technology contracts. Continually implement cost saving strategies.
  • Leadership and Management: Mentor, develop, and retain a service-oriented IT team, fostering professional growth. Create inclusive policies ensuring system and regulatory compliance. Manage IT budgets, work effectively with vendors, and negotiate contracts and approvals.
  • Customer Service and Collaboration: Actively improve service delivery and end-user experience. Collaborate with users to maximize IT system use and enhance patient experience. Promote open communication and strong collaborative relationships. Incorporate security best practices into all service delivery.

Role Requirements:
  • Onsite: This role requires employees to be onsite at the Wausau Hospital location five days a week and does not permit hybrid or remote work.

Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in relevant field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Five or more years of experience in an IT leadership position or within a consultancy capacity, preferably in a complex health system. Experience in developing and implementing IT strategic plans and processes.
  • Skills: Leadership maturity, accountability, sense of urgency, storytelling, strong analytical skills, detail-oriented while also being strategic.
