Touchstone Engineering Corporation is a commercial electrical contractor and design firm. We are looking to add an Electrical Estimator to our team.
The Estimator's role is to complete cost estimates and bid documents for commercial construction projects. The right individuals are willing to learn, take ownership of their work, and take a proactive approach in both their work and professional development.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other bid documents
Identify any issues, conflicts, and other potential problems in bid documents
Perform takeoffs for estimates and budgets
Obtain and review quotations from vendors, material suppliers, and subcontractors
Compile and complete cost estimates and budgets independently
Prepare written proposals for estimates and complete bid forms
Attend job site walks, pre-bid meetings, and bid review meetings when necessary
Coordinate and lead internal hand-off meetings to review scope of awarded projects with project managers and field management
Communicate with vendors and customers throughout bidding and preconstruction process
Work on multiple bids simultaneously
Manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks to complete estimates and meet deadlines
Develop the ability to complete accurate high-level budgets
Develop strategies for successful estimates and project acquisitions
Develop and maintain customer relationships and ensure customer satisfaction
Qualifications and Skills:
2+ years as a construction estimator, electrical estimating preferred
or
2+ years at an electrical construction company or electrical design firm - project engineer, project manager, electrical field experience, or other relevant role
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, quantitative field, or other related field is a plus
McCormick, Accubid, or other estimating software experience
Bluebeam experience
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Understanding of project bidding, acquisition, and preconstruction processes
Strong communication skills - written, verbal, and phone
Ability to review documents thoroughly and identify key details
Ability to identify issues in bid documents and develop solutions
Ability to work both independently and within a team
Strong organizational skills and ability to adhere to department organizational guidelines
Must be able to manage time and multitask to work on multiple estimates
Electrical code or design knowledge a plus
Design build experience a plus
