Job Summary:
The Dock Helper is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the dock at a wholesale seafood company. This role involves handling seafood products, loading and unloading shipments, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the loading and unloading of seafood shipments from trucks and vessels.
Ensure all products are handled safely and meet quality standards.
Sort, organize, and store seafood products in designated areas.
Assist in preparing orders for shipment and delivery.
Maintain cleanliness of the dock area, including proper disposal of waste and cleaning of equipment.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment as needed (if certified).
Ensure proper documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments.
Follow all company safety and hygiene protocols, especially when handling perishable goods.
Assist with inventory counts and stock management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in cold, wet environments.
Basic understanding of dock operations and product handling.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Previous experience in a warehouse or dock environment is a plus.
Working Conditions:
Must be comfortable working in a cold storage environment.
Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
Standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
