**Key Responsibilities:** - Oversee and manage the complete editorial process, including news gathering, writing, editing, and publishing. - Develop and execute story ideas through proactive research, interviews, and community engagement. - Recruit, manage, and mentor a team of freelance writers, photographers, and contributors to ensure comprehensive coverage of local events, news, and features. - Ensure that the newspaper maintains journalistic integrity, accuracy, and adheres to all editorial deadlines. - Collaborate with the layout and design teams to ensure visually appealing and reader-friendly issues. - Establish and nurture relationships with key community stakeholders, including local government, businesses, and organizations to uncover important news stories. - Stay informed on the latest trends in local news, community events, and national news that impacts Artesia and the broader New Mexico region. - Represent the Artesia Daily Press at community events, fostering a strong presence in the local area.
