Position Overview

A Private Equity portfolio company is seeking an experienced, results-driven Vice President of Operations to lead and drive operational excellence across the organization. This Private Equity-backed platform focused on installation, repair and maintenance services for residential and commercial overhead and access control solutions. This executive role will be responsible for working with Operating Company Presidents and operations leaders, implementing and optimizing business processes, and ensuring alignment with strategic goals. The VP of Operations will lead key initiatives related to KPI development, M&A integration, operational process improvement, and implementation of lean manufacturing principles. Additionally, the role will oversee field-based services and workforce development, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. The VP of Operations will report directly to the President.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, lean business systems, and the ability to influence positive change across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
• Operational Workflow Systems:

o Oversee the implementation and refinement of operating workflow systems, ensuring scalability and efficiency. Experience with Salesforce, Service Fusion, Service Titan, BuildOps, CRM systems, a plus

o Identify bottlenecks and areas for system optimization across all business units.
• KPI Development, Reporting, and Ownership:

o Define, develop, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness of operational processes.

o Ensure timely and accurate reporting of KPIs across all business units.

o Own operational results and drive continuous improvement initiatives to meet or exceed company goals.
• Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Integration:

o Lead operational integration efforts for acquired businesses, ensuring seamless transitions and alignment with existing processes.

o Collaborate with leadership to drive synergies and efficiency improvements post-acquisition.
• Operational Process Improvement:

o Design and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.

o Drive lean manufacturing principles across operations to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and optimize value creation.

o Experience with Six Sigma, Danaher Business System, Fortive Business System, or Toyota-based production systems to foster a culture of continuous improvement is a plus
• Strategy Development and Execution:

o Work closely with the executive team to develop and implement operational strategies

o Connect with Customers to understand needs and translate them into business goals
• Field-Based or Job-Based Businesses:

o Experience working with Field-based or job-based businesses

o Identifying best practices for improving first time fix rate, minimizing response time or driving other operational improvements

Preferred Experience
• Product Development

o Oversee the development and implementation of new service offerings (service contracts, product expansions, etc.) and service-related products to meet customer needs and drive revenue growth.
• Technician Development and Training

o Design and implement technician training programs focused on skill enhancement, safety, and operational efficiency.

o Drive continuous learning and development programs to ensure high-quality performance across the technical workforce.
• Safety Management:

o Implement and enforce safety management programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a culture of safety across the organization.
• Fleet Management:

o Oversee the optimization and management of the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment, ensuring cost-effective utilization and maintenance.
• Procurement Optimization:

o Lead initiatives to streamline procurement processes, optimize supplier relationships, and reduce costs related to materials and equipment.

Education & requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field required.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred
• 10-15 years of experience in roles with progressive responsibility
• Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other Toyota Production System-based methodologies is highly desirable.
• Willingness to travel ~50%

Key Skills & Competencies
• Proven experience leading operations in a field-based or job-based business environment
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and proven experience in operational systems like Six Sigma, Danaher Business System, or Fortive Business System.
• Demonstrated success in KPI development and reporting, process improvement, and M&A integration.
• Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
• Exceptional leadership and team development skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with Private Equity leadership and Board members
• Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills are essential
