Position Overview
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating operations within the manufacturing facility. This dynamic, hands-on role oversees all aspects of production, processing, equipment, and packaging, with a strong focus on documentation, data integrity, and key performance indicators (KPIs). The manager ensures that the manufacturing team operates efficiently, delivering high-quality products on time while adhering to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop priorities, create budgets, and establish schedules and quality control processes.
Oversee the timely and safe completion of production orders to meet demand while maintaining high product quality.
Coordinate daily activities for the production team, ensuring operations run smoothly and meet production specifications, including volume, cost, and quality targets.
Manage raw material inventory, ensuring accurate usage and timely return to stock.
Monitor production volume and quality, adjusting tasks, timing, equipment setup, or inputs to meet specifications and ensure resource efficiency.
Analyze production metrics to identify areas for improvement and reduce lead times in a just-in-time production environment.
Ensure production aligns with KPI targets, tracking and reporting on productivity, processes, and performance metrics.
Supervise staff to ensure safe operation of machines and equipment, overseeing maintenance and schedule adherence.
Lead production supervisors, team leads, and associates, providing guidance and support.
Ensure regulatory compliance across the facility and manage associate performance to meet organizational goals.
Maintain comprehensive training documentation for all department staff, covering areas such as safety, equipment operation, and quality standards.
Lead personnel decisions related to hiring, scheduling, performance management, and corrective actions.
Contribute to departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural changes.
Drive the development of accurate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key production areas.
Meet production goals and timelines, ensuring compliance with labeling, quality, and SOPs.
Communicate progress, issues, and obstacles to senior management, working with the Operations Director to resolve scheduling or production challenges.
Regularly engage with department staff, providing updates on production and employee performance.
Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety programs as outlined by the company.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support business objectives.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in managing departmental operations and addressing employee matters.
Qualifications
Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in data management and problem-solving with adaptability and teamwork capabilities.
Experience using standard theories and principles to resolve complex problems and propose action plans.
Ability to provide supervision to employees, assigning tasks, and checking work at frequent intervals.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 years in a production setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of cannabis industry practices, production processes, and compliance.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and relevant software applications, with a typing speed of 40 WPM and minimal errors.
Experience with budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural improvement.
Requirements
Must be 21 years or older.
Ability to work at least 40 hours per week, with flexible availability for day, night, and weekend shifts.
Capable of performing repetitive, physically demanding tasks during the shift.
Ability to stand for extended periods and meet the physical demands of the role, including bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 40 lbs. to a height of 5 feet.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and working at a computer.
Ability to bend, kneel, squat, twist, and stand for extended periods.
Must be able to push, pull, move, and lift up to 40 lbs. and transport such weight over a distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance.
Must be able to navigate multiple departments within the facility.
