JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Analysis Design - Recognizes various epidemiologic, clinical or basic research study designs and the analysis implications of those designs. Calculates sample sizes for straightforward studies based on preliminary clinical data and planned analysis strategy, prepares statistical analysis plan and provide descriptions of those sample size calculations for grants or IRB submissions.
Data Files - Prepares data files for analyses, including manipulating and exporting data from existing formats to statistical analysis program formats, and preparing a data dictionary. Writes scripts to enable checks on the data, including error checking for out-of-range data or potential data entry errors. Writes statements for statistical programs in order to perform specific analyses, e.g., create new variables.
Statistical Analysis - Performs basic statistical tests such as t-tests, chi square tests, analysis of variance and other standard statistical methods. Prepares summary report of methods used and the findings concerning the analyses of data, including tables and statistical graphics required for publication, for the faculty supervisor and the Principal Investigator. Maintains documentation to permit evaluation of data cleaning process, analysis methods and assumptions.
Training & Education - Serves as a resource to the students, residents, and fellows regarding issues of basic statistical programming and analyses. Assists investigators with basic statistical programming problems. Communicates with faculty supervisor regarding statistical issues, e.g., potential data entry error or variables that are out of range.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in related field. May require clinical license, certification or training
