We have an opportunity for an Engineer to join our engineering team here in Columbia, Maryland. In this role, the successful candidate will have a minimum of eight years in developing E/O sensor, communication and/or radar systems is required. Advanced degree can be substituted for job experience pending review. Working knowledge in system level development, requirements definition, analysis, and risk mitigation for complex systems used on accredited programs. Experience with Verification and Validation requirements. Experience generating requirements using Model-Based Systems engineering and/or DOORS is preferred. Must have active DOD Secret with ability to obtain Top Secret.
Responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of engineering processes, methods, and products
Works under supervision and technical oversight on projects or subsystems of a technical nature
Supports the generation of written documentation in a team environment to include engineering drawings, engineering standards, engineering specifications, technical proposals, test procedures, technical manuals, disclosures, and scientific discoveries
Works as part of integrated product teams with other cross-functional professional employees in the execution of engineering functions
Works independently on small to moderately complex projects or assists on large complex projects of a technical nature
Receives guidance from and interfaces with peers, senior engineers, and other professional employees in the execution of engineering functions
Defines and analyzes the technical requirements for assigned engineering tasks
Generates, modifies, and upgrades mathematical models to predict design performance
Uses commercial and proprietary simulation tools in developing and evaluating designs
Plans, schedules, and organizes the assignments with guidance
Acquires information from all relevant sources, including industry and government standards, handbooks, textbooks, and reference manuals
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
Follows industry and internal design guidelines and methodologies
Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems
Support internal and customer design reviews
Generates reports, white papers, and technical memoranda
Perform research and analysis of technical issues to develop solutions to meet design objectives
Works to complete tasks within cost and schedule constraints
Provide feedback and make recommendations to improve designs, reduce costs, and schedule
Conduct testing and develop prototypes to validate designs
Documents the design development
Support multiple assignments on different design product teams
Use the infrastructure to accomplish objectives
Support production, testing, and field operations in improving designs
Applies scientific principles, tools, and techniques to achieve practical results. Tools are objective, utilizing quantitative or analytical techniques
Maintain engineering skills consistent with advances in technology
Ability to understand all levels of requirements, including direct customer negotiation and flow-down
Ability to work with Design engineering to develop verification and validation requirements
Experience in developing and owning detailed CDRLs (CONOPS, Initialization, etc.)
Experience designing, integrating, testing, and operating optical, radar, and RF systems
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
