Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Heavy Civil Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the project schedule for large-scale wastewater infrastructure projects. This role requires a deep understanding of heavy civil construction, including earthwork, excavation, grading, utilities, and specific wastewater systems. The scheduler will work closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure project timelines are met and issues are identified early to prevent delays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Scheduling:
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules for wastewater projects using scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.).
  • Create project timelines, track progress, and update schedules as necessary to reflect changes in scope, weather, or unforeseen delays.
  • Integrate all aspects of the project into the schedule, including site prep, excavation, utilities installation, and specific wastewater treatment processes.
  • Collaboration & Coordination:
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and superintendents to ensure the schedule aligns with project objectives, contractual milestones, and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that materials and labor are available per the schedule.
  • Provide weekly updates on project status and collaborate on recovery plans to address schedule delays or risks.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify potential scheduling conflicts or delays and proactively propose solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Analyze schedule impacts from changes in project scope, contractor productivity, or external factors such as weather or supply chain issues.
  • Adjust timelines and resources as necessary to accommodate change orders and unforeseen events.
  • Reporting & Communication:
  • Prepare regular schedule reports, including progress updates, critical path analyses, and forecast completion dates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Present schedule updates in project meetings and provide key insights on project timelines and potential delays.
  • Coordinate with the cost control team to ensure that the schedule reflects the budget and helps track cost performance.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
  • Ensure that all scheduling documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with project requirements and contract specifications.
  • Maintain as-built schedule records and assist in project close-out by documenting delays and reasons for any schedule variances.

Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in scheduling for heavy civil projects, with a focus on wastewater, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other scheduling software.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction processes, including excavation, grading, utilities, and wastewater systems.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting schedule updates and coordinating with project teams.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and provide recommendations to mitigate scheduling risks.

  • Certifications:
  • PMP or PSP certification is preferred but not required.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is a plus.
