Job Description:

General Summary:

Provide Engineering support during pre-sale activities and serve as a technical resource in servicing our products and customers. Quote OEM components, do costing and estimating, quote retrofits, and perform any other required upfront engineering for the sales department.

You will review applications for sold orders, defining equipment specifications and handing-off projects to engineering. You will interface with engineering, sales, and our customers. You will assist or run our product testing in our Test Lab as needed.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and checks sales application drawings, including pre-approval drawings and plant layout within proposed contract scope, all while meeting customer needs.
  • Work with Sales, Customer, and Vendors to spec and quote 3rd party equipment (Gearboxes, pumps, heat exchangers, chillers, conveyors, bulk handling systems, etc.)
  • Quote refurbishments for existing equipment. Support sales for used equipment retrofits, etc.
  • Perform field surveys when necessary to ensure designed system will fit customer's manufacturing area structure.
  • Coordinate survey findings with drawings/layouts as well as Project Engineers and the various trades.
  • Make suggestions for design modifications to facilitate building obstructions, utilities, or product quality issues.
  • Understand and apply engineering & design standards and practices, quality system procedures and other standards, as appropriate to the applications function.
  • Work closely and communicate with Project Engineers, Sales, Estimating, Manufacturing, Installation and Service to coordinate pre-sales design issues and preapprovals.
  • Represent the company in matters of coordination and technical assistance related to the detail design drawing aspect of the project.
  • Maintain and expand drawing database used as a resource to the Sales department.
  • Assist with product testing when required in our testing facility, as needed.
  • Test at customers location with simulators.
  • Assisting with machinery manuals prior to equipment shipping.
  • Support service people as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by superior

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Two-year associate degree in Technology Management or Computer Aided Drawing (CAD).
  • Proficiency in latest computerized design applications (e.g. AutoCAD, Pro-E, Inventor).
  • Minimum three years of experience within manufacturing or applications related CAD work (sales proposals).
  • Good analytical and problem solving, verbal and written communication skills to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively check all drawings for errors or deviations from standard practice prior to submittal to customers or manufacturing.

Job Scope:
  • Works and interacts alone or with Salespeople, Applications Engineers, and/or Production Engineering team.
  • Works on sales quotes and sales applications varying in scope.
  • Occasionally interacts directly with outside customers and vendors.

Description of physical working environment:

  • Works in normal office environment and makes occasional client visits requiring air travel or driving personal vehicle. When in office, regularly works from a sitting position at a computer. Repetitive typing and computer use is required.
  • Works at manufacturing site to survey conditions and resolve coordination issues with trades.
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders, steps, catwalks and machinery at site is required.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% required.
