Safe Families for Children is a global non-profit with over 100 Chapters globally. This specific role will oversee operations in the Pikes Peak Region, supervising a staff of 2.

Position Summary:

Safe Families for Children (SFFC) seeks a dynamic, experienced leader to strengthen and grow the Pikes Peak Safe Families Chapter. This role involves strengthening existing operations and fundraising development, recruiting and developing partnerships with churches and community organizations, building a base of dedicated volunteers, and improving outcomes for children and families in need.

The Chapter Director will create and sustain enthusiasm among stakeholders, engage with church partners, community organizations, government agencies, and medical providers, and drive the mission of Safe Families forward.

The ideal person for this role would have a contagious enthusiasm for supporting children and families in crisis, strong relationship-building skills, and a solid background in fundraising development and operations. Experience and knowledge in social work, counseling, psychology, etc., are strongly desired.

Core Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:
  • Collaborate with the National Alliance Safe Families Leadership Group, and other Colorado Chapter Directors (Denver and Fort Collins) to implement the organization's mission.
  • Oversee the chapter budget, ensuring responsible resource allocation to achieve chapter goals.
  • I will lead and collaborate with the Pikes Peak Leadership Council Team to strategically enhance Safe Families' presence in Colorado Springs.
  • Recruit Leadership Council members to help strengthen the Pikes Peak Chapter and meet the leadership needs.
  • Participate in monthly Chapter Director guilds and other meetings and collaborate with other Chapter Directors in the organization as needed.
  • Motivate and inspire team members by fostering a positive, solution-oriented culture promoting continuous improvement and creative problem-solving.
  • Lead the local team, hosting team meetings and promoting a healthy work culture and collaboration for all team members.
  • Establish individual weekly meetings with supervised staff to support time management and professional development.
  • Conduct a strength-based Annual Progress Report with each staff member.
  • Actively advocate for the well-being and health of each team member, pro-actively supporting them against burnout.

Church and Volunteer Recruitment, Engagement, and Stewardship
  • Create and implement a church engagement strategy and operations in collaboration with the Community Engagement Coordinator, to strengthen current church partnerships and encourage stronger church involvement.
  • Support the Community Engagement Coordinator in:
  • Identifying and onboarding Ministry Leads in each partnering church
  • the development and implementation of volunteer recruitment strategies
  • streamlining the volunteer onboarding process and eliminating black holes, ensuring accurate volunteer, Church, and family data tracking.
  • Develop and oversee an effective model for recruiting, training, and engaging volunteers.
  • Cultivate a culture where volunteers are highly valued and appreciated.

Donor Stewardship and Fundraising:
  • Maintain and grow an annual fundraising budget beginning at $265,000 fundraised annually
  • Develop an annual fundraising calendar and strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a donor development strategy, including recruiting new donors and stewarding/maintaining existing donor base.
  • Write and Publish an Annual and/or Impact Report yearly and at the end of the Fiscal year.
  • Maintain a rhythm of marketing communications with donor base, church base, volunteer base, and community members/partners, to strengthen the Safe Families brand and keep individuals engaged and connected to the mission (ie. E-news, impact report, social media, videos, etc.)
  • Lead and oversee grant writing, including researching grants, writing grants, maintaining a grant calendar, and reporting on grant-funded activities.
  • Foster relationships with individual donors and expand foundation and private support.
  • Support the Community Engagement Coordinator in the annual Gala and other fundraising events.

Service Delivery:
  • Support the Family Coach Coordinator in Family and Volunteer Care and Support (supporting the hotline, entering notes and requirements into the database, etc.)
  • Ensure the overall quality of services within the assigned Chapter, adhering to SFFC's national fidelity standards.
  • Understand Colorado Legislation as it adheres to Safe Families.
  • When schedule and time allow, actively participate in a Circle of Support for at least one family being served.
  • Support the family coach coordinator innetworking with local agencies working with children and families to build a community of support.
  • Collaborate with the family coach coordinator in training and getting updates to partner agencies as needed.
  • Work with the Family Coach Coordinator in strengthening our partnership with DHS

General Duties:
  • Participate in SFFC events, including conferences and policy development meetings.
  • Attract, retain, and develop high-quality staff, adhering to established HR policies.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or development, or 4+ years comparable experience
  • Ability and Enthusiasm to collaborate and partner with local churches
  • 4+ years in creating and developing effective fundraising strategies
  • 2+ years marketing experience
  • 5+ years experience leading effective operations
  • Prior experience supervising employed staff
  • Prior experience working in nonprofits
  • Ability to work in an inclusive environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree or Masters in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or some other form of clinical work, OR practical experience in the clinical world.

Salary Range

$60,000-$75,000
