Provide direct care for patients before, during, and after surgery and/or surgical procedures. Role also includes responsibilities such as patient education, circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse.
*Schedules available Monday through Friday - 4 to 6 hour shifts - flexible between the hours of 5:30am and 4:30pm*
Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct thorough preoperative assessments of patients, including reviewing medical histories, allergies, and verifying consent.
Ensure that patients are properly positioned, sterilely draped, and receive appropriate surgical site verification in collaboration with the surgical team.
Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for each procedure, ensuring sterility and functionality.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive surgical records, including documentation of medications, procedures, and patient responses.
Facilitate effective communication among surgical team members, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists, to ensure a smooth and safe surgical experience.
Act as the patient's advocate during surgery, monitoring their safety, comfort, and adherence to infection control protocols.
Be prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies, such as equipment malfunctions, changes in patient status, or other unforeseen events.
Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in surgical techniques, equipment, and best practices through ongoing training and education.
Evolve in your role when performing supplemental responsibilities as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
Current NYS Registered Nurse license
Minimum one year Orthopedic Nursing experience or related Rehabilitation Nursing experience required.
Basic Life Support certification required
EMR experience required, MEDENT preferred
Computer skills required with minimum proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Physical Demands
Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
Frequent reaching, stooping, squatting, bending, kneeling, and crouching
Extensive standing and walking required
Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Position requires full range of body motion including ability to position and move patients
Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards/physical risk
