The Mission Critical Implementation Specialist (MCIS) provides technical and support services, including direct oversight and governance, to Enterprise Risk Projects. This role ensures project deliverables are executed with quality, safety, on schedule, within budget, and in the most effective manner possible. The MCIS is an authority and expert in their field, leveraging their experience and knowledge of best practices and current code requirements to challenge execution strategies and validate project readiness. They work directly with the CPM Manager or RMM Manager and Project Managers of Enterprise Risk projects.
When Enterprise Risk Projects are refueling outage critical paths, the MCIS position is crucial in saving critical path hours, reducing outage durations, and preventing risks that could extend outage durations.
Principal Accountabilities:
Technical Review: Evaluate key project documentation to refine strategies and improve schedule performance, quality, and resource efficiency. Identify errors or misconceptions for successful project implementation.
Quality Control: Validate the quality of all Work Order Tasks (WOT) associated with assigned scope prior to field activities. Remediate WOTs that lack quality or contain errors.
Testing and Acceptance: Review and improve testing and acceptance plans. Identify activities that would benefit from mock-ups and provide guidance on their effectiveness.
Operating Experience: Communicate personal and industry operating experiences related to project activities and develop response strategies.
ASME PIC: Serve as the ASME Person in Charge for Section XI Repair & Replacement Plan work scope as needed.
Governance: Maintain a broad knowledge base of codes, standards, innovative technologies, and industry trends related to Enterprise Risk Projects.
Oversight: Provide feedback to Project Managers and Department Management on project strategies and implementation plans. Oversee shop or field activities and serve as the designated person in charge on opposite shifts of the Project Manager.
Support: Coordinate resources and collaborate with vendors to remove roadblocks. Attend key strategy meetings with the Project Manager.
Required Education and Experience:
Advanced degree in a related field or business AND 10 years of mechanical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, and/or regulated industrial environment.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or business AND 12 years of mechanical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, and/or regulated industrial environment.
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND 14 years of mechanical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, and/or regulated industrial environment.
High School Diploma/GED AND 16 years of mechanical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, and/or regulated industrial environment.
Desired Education and Experience:
Proven experience in construction management.
Experience in multiple refueling outages at a commercial nuclear power plant.
Experience with production and operational processes at a commercial nuclear power plant.
Experience with feedwater heaters and internals.
Experience with steam systems and ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel code vessels, heat exchangers, piping, and valves.
Certifications in mechanical disciplines, construction, or projects are desired.
Required Abilities and Skills:
Proficiency in Enterprise Management Software (Asset Suite, SAP, etc.).
Familiarity with logic-driven schedules (Primavera, Microsoft Project).
Knowledge of code and regulatory requirements for maintenance and field work activities.
Expertise in error reduction, human performance improvement methods, and cost-effective work execution methodologies.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Advanced computer skills.
