Senior Associate Scientist - Flow Cytometry at Pfizer in La Jolla, California

OVERVIEW:

 

You will be part of a team that is addressing the critical task of rejuvenating our pipeline with innovative, differentiated First-In-Class/ Only-In-Class programs in the years to come. This will be addressed by generation of strong data packages from target hypotheses derived from academic outreach and initiatives. You will creatively design and execute key experiments to address the basic and translational biology of novel drug targets, their molecular pathways, and their connection to human disease. You will support projects in one or more therapeutic areas of interest to Pfizer including Immunology, Oncology, Immuno-Oncology, Neurodegenerative Disease .

 

ROLE SUMMARY:

 

• Participate in pre-clinical drug discovery and development projects with a focus on Cancer Immunology and Biomarker discovery

 

• Join a high-demand and fast paced environment which requires the capacity to thrive under pressure

 

• Apply technical skills and functional knowledge to projects/ assignments within own work group/ project team independently and proactively

 

• Perform laboratory experiments to enable target identification, validation, prioritization, and efficient drug discovery

 

• Prepare and present experimental results to project teams

 

• Comply with all safety training and good laboratory practices

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Bachelor's Degree in Biology , Immunology, Oncology or similar and 3+ years of relevant experience

 

• Current knowledge of immuno logy research and/or drug discovery and development

 

• Proficiency in hands-on experience using cell lines, PBMCs, whole blood and animal samples

 

• C ompetency with flow cytometry, data acquisition and analysis using conventional and spectral cytometers . Experience with multi-color flow cytometry is highly desirable

 

• Proficiency with all common office and scientific software required to perform analysis of data

 

• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills

 

• Be an active , flexible , and multi- tasked team player

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Master's degree in related scientific field

 

• Experienc e in harvesting and manipulating animal tissues

 

• Knowledge using multi-parameter flow cytometry to investigate the tumor microenvironment

 

• Experience with single-cell and/or spatial omics

 

• Experience with biological data analysis in R/Python

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
