Job Description:

The Department of Electrical Engineering in the College of Engineering invites applications for non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction position. The position is expected to commence August 2025. Candidates from all areas in electrical and computer engineering are encouraged to apply. The departments curriculum areas include Computer Architecture and Operating Systems, High-Performance Computing, Communication Systems and Computer Networks, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Wireless Circuits and Systems, Bioelectrical Systems, Energy and Power Systems, Mechatronics, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Micro and Nano-Scale Systems, and Hardware and Systems Security, with a strong emphasis on applied, hands-on learning. An Assistant Professorof Instruction is expected to engage in activities such as teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervision of senior design capstone projects, course development, academic and professional formation, student advising and mentoring, support student organizations such as the student chapters of IEEE, HKN, IEEE-PES, etc., and departmental activities such as curriculum development and accreditation process.

The Department of Electrical Engineering at USF has 23 tenure-track/tenured track faculty members and 2 professors of instruction hailing from some of the finest institutions in the country. Many serve in national leadership roles in technical societies, such as the IEEE, and have industry experience to complement their academic backgrounds. The Department of Electrical Engineering offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees and serves approximately 600 undergraduate students, 120 M.S., students and 80 Ph.D. students. The department also leads the newly established MS in Cybersecurity degree in collaboration with sister departments in the college of engineering. Our faculty are active in research areas spanning machine learning applications in IoT, speech, computer vision, wireless communications, nano/microfabrication, RF MEMS and ICs, radar, wireless and microwave systems, renewable energy source integration and smart grid automation, cybersecurity, data analytics, systems and control theory, robotics, electronic materials for sensors and energy applications, and more. Substantial collaborations withCyberFlorida, theInstitute of Applied Engineering, andMoffitt Cancer Centerare part of the departments growing research activities. Research expenditures for 2023 were $4.8 million.
