Lab Assistant 1 (50% FTE/Monday to Friday))🔍School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United States📁Research📅Jul 08, 2022 Post Date📅95258 Requisition #This position is represented by SEIU Local 2007 and the collective bargaining agreement between the university and SEIU Local 2007 governs the terms and conditions of employment.The Department of Radiology seeks a Radiochemistry Laboratory Assistant who will support the research of the Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Facility. The Radiochemistry Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for lab supply management, assisting FDG dispensing and delivery, maintaining facility daily sanitation and routine check for equipment, and performing skilled techniques in support of the lab's research goals.This position is 50% FTE, 20 hours a week.
Duties:


  • Packing and delivering the radiopharmaceuticals by driving golf cart or facility van to campus or satellite SHC hospitals. (DOT training required)

  • Daily recording of all FDG production reports for submission to Finance.

  • Assist higher level laboratory staff in dispensing FDG.

  • Perform basic and routine equipment maintenance. Record keeping of service records.

  • Other tasks that may be assigned that is related to the operation of the radioactivity dispensing system.


- Other duties may also be assigned.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6 months of related experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

  • Some familiarity with a laboratory environment helpful but not required. Will be trained to do this work


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
    In addition to the qualifications listed for the Laboratory Glassware Washer, these employees must have demonstrated initiative and good judgment.Required to perform work with a minimum of error and less day-to-day supervision. Basic Arithmetic skillsDriver LicenseMust be proactive and quick learner, who is a team player. Must have the ability to work independently, meet critical deadlines, and follow up and through on assigned tasks. Knowledge of basic, supply inventory, and lab maintenance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
    Manual dexterity to perform assigned tasks.Write by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts.Frequently stand/walk, perform seated work, operate special machinesOccasionally twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach /work above shoulders, light fine grasping.Lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.Rarely help move heavier items (e.g. chairs or lab equipment; packages of supplies; drums containing 2 to 15 gallons, depending on ability.In some Glassware Washing operations, occasionally may pull a wheeled Glassware cart that weighs approximately 100 pounds

Additional PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Ability to lift 100 lbs., multiple times a day.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Work occurs in a research laboratory environment. Depending on research, Lab Assistants may work in the vicinity of animals, chemicals, gasses or hazardous materials. Expected to follow all safety requirements and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if required.

Additional and/or Unusual WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work shift: 5 AM - 9 AM; environment: radiation risk (with personal protection equipment and radiation safety monitoring)

The expected pay range for this position is $26.20 per hr. (Step 1) - $31.67 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the range is subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
