How will you make an impact?


The primary responsibility of the Buyer III is managing the day to day materials planning and placement of purchase orders for the assigned commodities. The person will also support cost reduction strategies, participate in supplier negotiations, purchase agreements, new source identification and selection, and manages supplier relationships. This position works closely with other departments to facilitate and implement strategic projects such as cost reduction and supplier consolidations.


What will you do?


  • Use Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to plan and process purchase orders.

  • Manage materials supply and inventory levels for product line(s), planning and purchasing for material requirements and ensuring flow of materials to meet manufacturing goals.

  • Understand and communicate component specifications to suppliers, including the ability to read drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and Incoming Quality Control (IQC) points.

  • Work with key partners to optimize inventory levels.

  • Review ECO and work closely with suppliers and internal teams to update required data and communicate effectively.

  • Locate, evaluate, negotiate, and select suppliers and potential suppliers to gain the best quality, cost and delivery of purchased material consistent with required standards.

  • Review procurement history and usage to determine safety stocks.

  • Track metrics (such as purchase price variance, on-time delivery, backorder, supplier scorecards, etc.) to manage the overall efficiency and success of procurement performance.

  • Evaluate supplier performance and communicate with suppliers periodically.

  • Participate in cross functional team meetings, deliver and/or share all actions with team as required.

  • Project manage and deliver supply chain programs (consignment, JIT, VMI, Kanban etc.)

  • Streamline processes and build efficiencies through lean initiatives (Practical Process Improvement) and project management.

  • Drive cost savings and quality improvement projects.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

How will you get here?




  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management or technical field, or equivalent experience, is required.

  • 3+ years of procurement experience, preferably in a fast-paced working environment.

  • APICS, CSPM or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Experience with ERP Systems (SAP preferred) and strong skills in MS office i.e. Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.

  • Experience in a scientific environment or medical device field preferred.

  • Project management and ability to develop strong support for change with all levels of organizations. Strong organization skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Outstanding negotiation skills and understanding of contracts, supply agreements.

  • Expertise in navigating conflict and possess outstanding communication skills including listening, verbal and written.

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently towards defined goals, maintain procurement goals at highest level. Attention to details a must. Ability to make decisions and solve practical problems with multiple variables in situations where standardization may be limited.

  • Self-motivated, results oriented, and motivated to work effectively without direct supervision.

  • Ability to interpret technical data and a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Strong customer service focus to improve satisfaction, demonstrate judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $100,000.00-$105,000.00.


This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
