Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM

In this role, you will:
Perform all technical aspects of grossing using a variety of laboratory materials and equipment.
Ensures specimen integrity upon arrival and throughout the entire process.
Enters a gross description for each specimen including, but not limited to anatomical site, size, color, weight, dimensions, count, volume, cut techniques, abnormal findings, dissects and prepares tissue for cassettes.
Escalates non-routine complicated specimens to a Grossing Tech II, Supervisor or Pathologist.
Maintains accurate work records.
Prepares dissected tissue specimens and place into cassettes.
Performs Quality Control and Quality Assurance Procedures.
May label requisitions, specimen containers, and cassettes.
Maintains laboratory equipment and tracks all routine maintenance and quality controls performed.
Operates, cleans, and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments and workstation.
Disposes of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines.
Maintains strictest confidentiality.
Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals.
All you need is:
Completion of one of the following: Associates degree in biology or chemistry or successful completion of a NAACLS accredited histotechnology program or Associates degree with 12 semester hours of biology or chemistry.
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician or Histological Technician license.

This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will be trained on reasonable safeguards and are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, as well as abide by all applicable privacy and security standards. Employees are expected only to access PHI when it is required to fulfill job duties.
Salary starting $35.00 - $45.00 per hour. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
