The Packaging Engineer will join a dynamic team responsible for the development, testing and commercialization of packaging solutions across a wide range of consumer lawn and garden products. This candidate will be the technical lead for packaging projects responsible for: concept design and refinement, timeline development, testing and optimization, data collection and analysis, development of specifications, pre-commercial scale-up and support of product launch. The Packaging Engineer will successfully collaborate with packaging suppliers, R&D, Quality, Supply Chain and Marketing to insure business alignment during development and drive technical excellence throughout the product launch.
-Lead cross-functional teams in the commercialization of new consumer packaged goods. Be adaptable, flexible, and accommodating to project scope changes. Be highly accountable to your work, do what is needed without being asked, follow through, and take responsibility for actions and their consequences. Be a "doer".
-Provide conceptual designs and prototypes of consumer packaged goods; understand and design packaging technology for enhanced user experiences with our products; be able to quickly identify with (and design for) the end user to develop new product ideas and pitch them to the business; determine and create specifications and requirements for new product launches.
-Utilize problem solving skills, root cause analysis (RCA), quality tools, and data-driven decision-making to prevent/resolve quality issues, supply chain interruptions, and manufacturing issues.
-Develop and conduct packaging and product testing standards to continuously improve product success rates; have a strong understanding of standard packaging materials: corrugate, rigid packaging, and flexible (film) packaging.
-Manage project timelines and resources from conception through to implementation, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget constraints.
-Work directly with manufacturing partners to develop, implement, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment that enables new product/packaging technologies.

Education
-Completed Bachelors Degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
Experience
Experience in packaging development, preferably within the consumer packaged goods sector.
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $75,000.00 - $88,200.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
