SUMMARY



The Engineering Technician provides engineering and installation support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Power Systems contract. This position provides construction and operation system support for the installation and engineering of various electrical power equipment and fuel systems. This position will travel up to 80% of the time.


Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS



Must be able to travel up to 80% of the time.


CDL license preferred.


Obtain and maintain required state and local licenses for electrical work preferred.


Experience working as an electrical technician focusing on power distribution systems.


Experience in a construction related discipline such as utility installation, general electrical, heavy equipment operation, welding, concrete, and mechanical required.


Relevant experience includes working with engineers and experience in writing / revising technical documentation for electronical systems and equipment and experience on power systems and equipment is preferred, as well as commercial electrical, lightning protection, fuel storage tank and engine generator.



KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Guarantees the enhancement and/or maintenance of existing power systems at various facilities.


Independently provides support in the demolition and disposal of current powers system equipment, such as EG, UPS, electrical distribution equipment, fuel systems and fuel tanks.


Examines and provides maintenance services for existing powers systems.


Aids in the development and preservation of the overall production schedule for project deliverables.


Provides technical and administrative support for engineering services. Supports the development of specifications for installation and data documentation used in the Site Survey process.


Assists in surveys of existing power systems and associated equipment as well as the physical facility for adequacy of exiting equipment and to ensure new power system requirements are accommodated at all facilities.


Troubleshoots failures in equipment and systems.


Analyzes and conducts performance tests of electrical systems.


Assists in engineering technical documentation.


Assists in survey reports with assessments and technical data in accordance with customer program.


Installs specific electrical power system equipment installations that are included but not limited to: engine generators (EG), EG fuel system(s), EG fuel tank(s), Uninterruptible Power Supply(s) (UPS),


Static Transfer Switch, electrical distribution equipment, and associated power system support equipment such as, power systems control hardware/software, HVAC, physical facility, and lighting.


Helps provide construction estimates, schedules, and project oversight.


Organizes and inspects construction related tasks (i.e., utility installation, general electrical, heavy equipment operation, welding, mechanical, etc.).


Performs installation of various electrical systems included but not limited engine generators (EG), EG fuel system(s), EG fuel tank(s), Uninterruptible Power Supply(s) (UPS), Static Transfer Switch, electrical distribution equipment, associated power system support equipment such as, power systems control hardware/software, HVAC, physical facility, and lightning protection.


Ensures all safety requirements are met by the customer and OHSA standards.


Coordinates with the customer the installation and scheduling requirements for various power and fuel systems.


Travels to client sites up to 80% of the time.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of three to five (3-5) years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education/experience.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS



Work performed in an office, mechanic shop or in the field. May be required to lift objects up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to grasp, grip or apply pressure to an object with the arms, hands, fingers and palm, while holding an object in the hand. Frequently required to lift, raise or lower objects in a vertical direction, particularly heavy or bulky objects. Moving objects backward, forward, in or out in a horizontal direction, particularly heavy or bulky objects. Pulling, exerting a steady backward, downward, upward or outward force against an object - jerking, plucking, wrenching, stretching, towing, drawing, dragging or tugging objects in a sustained motion. Pushing, pressing against something with steady forward, downward, upward or outward force - shoving, pushing, compressing, squeezing, mashing, packing, pressing, jamming, compacting, or squashing objects in a sustained motion. Uses hand and power tools. The ability to see and distinguish colors, to visually distinguish shapes and patterns, to accurately sense distances (depth perception), to accurately see objects and detect motion at wide angles (peripheral vision). Frequently uses the lower extremities and back muscles and moving on foot, particularly for long distances. May have exposure to indoor/outdoor adverse weather conditions. Frequent exposure to noise - workers must wear protective hearing equipment or frequently shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Exposure to pollutants or allergens which can adversely affect the skin and/or the respiratory system such as gases, smoke, odors, mists, fumes, dust, chemicals, oils or solvents. Exposure to hazardous working conditions including moving machinery, electricity and/or working in high places. The job requires the use of protective equipment such as hard hats, respirators, aprons, gloves, special clothing, safety shoes and safety glasses.
