Position Summary

The Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University invites applications for a part-time, 30% appointment, Instructor position to teach one section of FW479, Fisheries Management for Spring 2025.

This is a 30%- 5-month fixed term Instructor with a 100% teaching assignment. The position start date is anticipated to be January 1, 2025, the position end date is anticipated to be May 31, 2025.

The FW479, Fisheries Management course typically has an enrollment of approximately 20 upper-level undergraduate students. It is required of Fisheries and Wildlife majors in the Fisheries Biology and Management concentration and is a curricular option for other FW concentrations. The course meets on Mondays and Wednesdays 11:30 AM - 12:20 PM (lecture), and 3:00 PM - 4:50 PM on Mondays (recitation).

The Department will pay $12,000 for the semester for teaching this class ($2,400 per month for Jan. - May).

An earned Master's degree in related field.

Desired Qualifications

An earned Ph.D. degree in related field. The successful candidate would ideally have training and professional experience in fisheries management and aquatic sciences, including familiarity with stock assessment techniques and practices for managing the safe harvest of commercial and sport fishes. The successful candidate should be passionate about undergraduate teaching.

Special Instructions

Salary and Benefits: The Department will pay $12,000 for the semester for teaching this class ($2,400 per month for Jan. - May). This part-time position is not benefits eligible.
