The Schulich School of Engineering is a leader in engineering education and research innovation, with over 200 faculty members, 4,000 undergraduate students and 2,200 graduate students. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Dean will be a strategic leader, a passionate advocate for engineering, and an accomplished researcher and academic. The Dean is responsible for fostering a culture that stresses inclusion, transparency and vision. The Dean leads the Faculty in securing support for research, scholarship, and infrastructure. The Dean plays a key role in fostering a faculty-wide culture that supports and strengthens the theory and practice of interdisciplinarity, excellence in research, teaching with innovative curricula, and fostering a reciprocally supportive relationship with community. The Dean will establish and foster international partnerships and lead in developing, implementing and evaluating research and educational ventures. The Dean also ensures that the School is effectively represented regarding University planning and management processes.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a related discipline and qualifications commensurate with an appointment with tenure at the rank of full professor in the School of Engineering. They are expected to be or become eligible for registration as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). A recognized scholar in an engineering related discipline, ideal candidates will have experience in senior academic leadership roles, such as an AVP, Dean, Associate Dean, a Chair of a department or as a Director of an Institute or Centre. A track record in external funding successes and the ability to build strong relationships with industry, government, alumni, and other local, national and international partners is essential.

The successful candidate will provide leadership in creating space for people who hold diverse perspectives and will actively lead local implementation of university strategies including Indigenous Engagement (ii' taapoh'to'p), Sustainability, Global Engagement, Mental Health, as well as an emerging EDIA strategy.

The appointment as Dean, Schulich School of Engineering is for a five-year period with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be offered an academic position With Tenure at the rank of Professor.

The University of Calgarys comprehensive benefits and pension program is designed to promote a productive level of health and well-being to staff members. In Alberta, decanal salaries are provincially regulated with the total compensation maximum set by the reform of Agencies, Boards, and Commissions (Post-Secondary Institutions) Compensation Regulation. In alignment with this regulation the salary range for this position is $210,000 - $330,000.
