Position Title: Police Officer - Lateral (Multiple Opportunities)
Department: Police Department - Maintenance & Security
Rate of Pay: $26.11 to $34.78 hourly depending on years of experience. 2:1 credit for years of experience to incoming pay rate.

Position Summary:
The Police Officer is the second level of a six-level public safety - police officer series. Incumbents perform commission full performance level police officer duties in controlling and analyzing crime scenes, establishing and maintaining order, identifying and enforcing campus violations, and conducting proactive public relations with students, the public, and employees. The Police Officer is distinguished from the Police Officer in Training by certification as an Arizona Peace Officer and responsibility working independently on an assigned shift. The Police Officer is distinguished from the Corporal which has squad leader responsibility over Community Service and Police Officers.
The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends and local travel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicate with students, the general public, and employees while patrolling college properties in an effort to proactively preserve law and order and achieve positive public relations
Respond to public safety emergencies, complaints, concerns or questions and administer proper procedures to ensure public safety
Conduct crime investigations
Enforce parking regulations, control and direct traffic
Inspect and maintain the security of college buildings and facilities
Provide public assistance needs such as: jump starting and unlocking vehicles; escorting individuals; and, promulgating special announcements
Prepare applicable crime and incident reports for an assigned shift
Respond to and conduct traffic accident investigations
Participate in community service activities
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as required
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
Current Arizona driver's license and
Arizona Peace Officer Standards Training (P.O.S.T.) Certified and
Minimum age of 21 and
Must be a U. S. citizen
