Logistics Coordinator
Position Overview
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for facilitating communication between production, sales and distribution stages to promote a healthy and efficient supply chain. As a logistics coordinator, customer satisfaction is a priority as this is how business remains successful. Additionally, a logistics coordinator is well versed in supply management principles and practices. Responding immediately to customer questions and complaints notifying them of any delays in the delivery scheduled is essential to this position.
Responsibilities
- Organizes the shipping clerks' workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules. Performance management.
- Sets and effectively communicates daily/weekly/monthly objectives.
- Facilitate weekly meetings between shipping clerks and customer service department.
- Responsible for accurate processing of all orders and to confirm customer purchase orders, pricing, track shipments and communicate any issues in fulfillment.
- Respond and follow up on inquiries verbal/written with customers (external/internal), vendors and consumers.
- Works closely with operations to manage inventory levels at all locations for the plant.
- Works closely with plant management on forecasts and new distribution needs.
- Coordinating transportation providers to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments.
- Making special shipping arrangements as necessary.
- Tracking and fixing shipping errors.
- Preparing bills and invoices.
- Managing distribution and shipment budgets.
- Ensuring that the quality of all services provided meets the required standards.
- Developing processes that make the supply chain more efficient and organized.
- Arrange and manage freight carriers for product shipments from various locations in a cost-effective manner.
- Manage finished goods orders to co-packers and arrange logistics.
- Manage any freight issues as they arise.
- Liaison between customer service and carrier providers.
- Approve/Deny any accessorial charges.
- Manage any Stock Transfer Requirements between plants.
- Work with corporate logistics with any carrier concerns.
- Maintain and oversee the transportation management system.
- Manage all dunnage backhauls.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' clerical and/or production experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or related industry.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and quality focus.
- High level of organization to retrieve, process, and report information on multiple projects.
- Ability to adapt to changing customer requirements while maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and manage your own time.
- Adaptability to perform repetitive work or to perform continuously the same work, according to set procedures sequence or pace.
- Good analytical skills and ability to prioritize in the face of multiple tasks.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Flexibility of schedule.
- Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
