The Palm Beach Daily News seeks a committed, caring, enthusiastic and experienced journalist to serve as assistant editor , helping to lead a team of dedicated journalists at the paper that covers the island of Palm Beach. The ideal candidate has excellent communication and management skills, is a compelling leader and a strong editor who can elevate news copy quality and storytelling, juggling daily breaking news demands with long-term planning on digital and print platforms.
The assistant editor is responsible for assisting the executive editor with editing and occasionally writing briefs and stories and compiling daily and enterprise budgets, working with reporters to develop and deliver stories. The assistant editor works closely with the e xecutive e ditor to meet the highest standards of community journalism in a news operation that is known for punching above its weight class.
The assistant editor has primary responsibility for laying out the digital-audience plan for publishing content on the Daily News website, as well as social media and newsletters.
They must be familiar with SEO, and social platforms like Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram. They must also have a working knowledge of Pars.ly and Google Trends to work with staff reporters and photographers on finding relevant trending topics for the Daily News audience.

Assists with content strategy, aggressively using data and leveraging audience analysts to make sure content decisions focus on the needs of target audiences.
Ensures the right mix of content to maximize user experiences each day.
Monitors real -time metrics to develop a clear picture of audience needs.
