The Erection Superintendent will oversee the erection of precast segments for the construction of the deck of the Cable Stayed Bridge for the Harbor Bridge Replacement Project at Corpus Christi in Texas, including coordination of the transportation of the segments, derrick crane operations (erection and launching), PT (bars and tendons) installation, working platforms movement and other activities related.
He will be reporting to the General Superintendent and will work closely with Field and Senior Engineers, other Superintendents (rebar, PT, grout...) and Subcontractors. Foremen will be reporting to him on a daily basis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES:
Directly supervise employees in the field.
Manage the coordination of equipment, labor and materials as well as program in time deliveries of material.
Constant contact with General Superintendent to ensure schedule, cost and production is met and to anticipate management required with other third parties
Coordinate with different departments, Field Engineer and subcontractors involved within the construction of the Cable Stayed Bridge
Confer with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays
Confer with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (i.e. OSHA)
Ensure construction is in accordance with its defining documents including any quality aspect(i.e. plans, standards, Work Methods, Erection Manual, CQMP, etc)
Ensure progress of activities are meeting the approved schedule.
Monitor expenses to ensure that they are meeting budget and Work Plans and implement mitigative actions if any deviation.
Generate all necessary reports and directly communicates with client/QA/subcontractors on project site (ensuring all parties are well informed of the process/production status)
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree and/or combination of experience along with high school diploma or general education degree (GED),
Minimum of fifteen years' experience in heavy construction.
Minimum of 10 years' experience as Superintendent in segment erection in Precast Segmental Bridge Construction.
High level of knowledge of hydraulic equipment, such as jacks, pumps and heavy lifting equipment.
Excellent spoken communication skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general engineering drawings, Work Plans, technical procedures or government regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to deal with problems involving several concrete variables
Computer Skills: General knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word.
