WSYM Fox 47, the E.W. Scripps station in Lansing, MI, seeks a dynamic Senior Morning Reporter to serve as a field and studio host, delivering essential information to start viewers' days. This reporter will be the face of the morning show, sharing top-level storytelling from local neighborhoods and a sense of innovation while contributing to the growth of our morning show and digital platforms.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Turn hard-enterprise stories to lead our morning show newscasts.
Regularly lead coverage with extensive field reporting from big events in various neighborhoods and across mid-Michigan, from the Michigan State basketball game to the State of the State address and everything in between.
Front content from the studio as needed.
Coordinate shoots and interviews for engaging morning show topics.
Respond to breaking news as it develops in the overnight or morning hours.
Elevate our product across multiple digital platforms.
Shoot, write and edit stories as assigned.
Participate in community events.
Complete other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
Generally, 2+ years of experience in related field preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Strong anchoring experience and skills.
The ability to tell the best story in the Lansing market on any given day.
Promote teamwork attitude with station employees.
Multitask multiple stories and shoots. Planning is critical.
Advance ability in critical thinking
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.
