Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of registered staff technologists, the extern will be responsible for performing and assisting with radiographic exams and related procedures for diagnostic interpretation. Participates in other portions of the role including patient history, chart review and associated paperwork. Upon completion off the externship, staff member should be able to perform routine diagnostic studies, track exams in Epic, locate and view images in PACS, utilize AIDET during interactions with all patients , assist in patient transport , clean and restock rooms. Adheres to organizational customer service standards and supports the organizational excellence initiatives. Provides positive and effective interaction and communication with patients, visitors, and staff. Upon completion of externship, the extern should be able to meet the minimum, basic competencies of a Radiologic Technologist including registry and state license.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Enrollment in a JRCERT approved school of Radiology and be within the last 6 months of the training program.
Effective interpersonal skills are required. Self-motivated; ability to organize and prioritize well; ability to remain flexible and to reorganize priorities when emergencies arise.
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
