Maintain direct communication with the Solid Waste and Recycling Manager
Maintain daily records (i.e. bale counts, time cards, productivity reports)
Maintain positive communication with internal and external clients
Assist and implement department policies, goals, objectives and procedures
Coordinate training with Solid Waste and Recycling Manager to ensure staff is kept up to date with MRF operations. Provide proper safety training and the use of personal protective equipment. Maintain recycling facility in a clean, well-organized manner avoiding clutter and potential fire hazards.
Thorough understanding of all programs and functions of all conveyor belts, glass breaker, perforator, optical sorter, eddy current, system compressor and baler.
Supervise 6-9 employees and trustees in daily operations
Monitor system components to anticipate and prevent loss of production
Use of daily maintenance practices to ensure efficient operation of electric motors, conveyor belts, glass breaker, perforator, optical sorter, eddy current, system compressor, electrical systems and baler.
Schedule daily, weekly and monthly maintenance required to ensure accurate performance of the equipment.
Snow removal
Conduct comprehensive tours of the facility
May be required to respond to duty calls during off-hours if contacted by the county
Assigns, reviews and checks work of regular maintenance and daily work items
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Three years of experience in recycling operations including one year of supervisory experience; or, any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and ability.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to inspire and motivate team members
Ability and knowledge to perform complex and difficult tasks
High degree of attention required
Computer proficiency using Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google
Mechanical knowledge of electric motors, conveyor belts, compressors, electrical systems and balers is preferred.
