Schedule: 40 Hours a Week, rotating 7:00a-3:30p and 7:30a-4:00p shifts. No Weekends, No Holidays
The Endoscopy Technician assists the medical team using endoscopes to diagnose or treat patients with gastrointestinal problems. The Technician interacts with patients and helps physicians and nurses that specialize in gastrointestinal medicine by preparing the room and equipment, and assisting during endoscopy procedures. The Endoscopy Technician handles specimens collected, assists with transport of patients and assists with ordering of supplies and management of inventory. This position sets up and tests endoscopes and special instruments for each case.
Essential Job Functions:
Sets up and test endoscopes and special instruments for each case.
Inspects endoscopes daily, assessing for any potential problems with endoscopes and equipment. Troubleshoots equipment and communicates any concerns to the Supervisor and Biomedical Engineering.
Sets up and tests endoscopes and special instruments for each case.
Completes bedside cleaning of scopes after procedures and transports scopes to Central Sterile Department for cleaning.
Monitors supply inventory and orders and restocks rooms as needed. Monitors CO2 tanks and exchanges empty tanks as needed.
Demonstrates the ability to adjust won workload to meet fluctuation in patient census and acuity.
Demonstrates understanding and follows infection control policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
