As a Systems Engineer I at CCHMC, you will be part of a specialized team responsible for supporting and managing the Virtualization environments that support the hospital's critical operations. This environment is expansive, consisting of 40 Clusters, 290 Hosts, and approximately 6,000 Virtual Servers, and serves as the backbone for a wide array of applications, including Epic, Mirth, Proton Therapy, PCI, Databases, and various web applications.
Your role is crucial in ensuring that CCHMC's Virtualization environments and associated technologies function seamlessly, providing the reliability and scalability needed to support the hospital's mission of improving children's health. Your work will directly contribute to the successful operation of vital applications that support patient care, research, and hospital administration.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management
Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new and enhanced application requests.
Identify appropriate resources needed to complete small projects.
Support communication between internal and external parties on project-related issues and developments.
Participate in developing and managing project plans.
Determine the scope and complexity of small to midsized projects.
Work with cross-functional teams.
Analysis
Participate in analyzing, designing, implementing, and maintaining moderately complex systems to improve clinical care and patient management.
Support system testing and document outcomes.
Develop technical solutions and design, write, and prepare user and technical documentation.
Analyze existing documentation and provide corrections and enhancements.
Utilize the development lifecycle process, operating procedures, and documentation to implement and support system solutions.
Technical Support
Provide technical support and problem resolution assistance for production and process issues.
Troubleshoot and decipher error messages, identifying resources needed to resolve minor to midsized issues.
Utilize appropriate Change Control methods to implement system solutions.
Serve as a liaison between Cincinnati Children's departments and Information Services.
Support departmental efforts to improve customer satisfaction.
Evaluate and monitor system performance and functionality to avoid potential issues and gather information for future development needs.
Participate in on-call support rotation, handling incident resolution, problem determination, and resolution.
Customer Support
Ensure outstanding end-user support, including monitoring Service Level Agreements for incident management.
Collaborate with other areas to ensure customer-centered incident management and support.
Adhere to and promote continual adoption of change management policies and procedures.
Model outstanding customer service behavior, including timely and effective follow-up with customers.
Maintain CCHMC's service standards of being Courteous, Attentive, Respectful, Enthusiastic, and Safe (CARES).
Professional Development
Develop knowledge and professional skills through cross-training, literature, and attendance at department meetings and vendor education.
Develop and maintain positive relationships, both internal and external to CCHMC.
Motivate people and encourage teamwork, fostering a positive team environment.
Prepare oral and written presentations and participate in instructional seminars.
Develop expertise in several Cincinnati Children's computer-based systems.
