The Data Visualization Specialist (DVS) will provide expert assistance, consultation, and instruction in data visualization, and collaborate with the Libraries' Teaching, Learning, and Research Division to create dashboards for diverse research projects. The DVL will support the university's research priorities through close partnerships with campus groups like the CCIT/GIS team and the Graduate School. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Consultation and Instruction: Provide consultation and training to students and faculty on data visualization and effective research presentation techniques. Lead workshops and training sessions on data visualization tools and strategies tailored to the Clemson community s needs. Develop guides, software, and tutorials to enhance data visualization literacy.
30% - Essential - Collaboration and Engagement: Engage in outreach activities to build and nurture a data visualization community with campus partners. Create and coordinate programming opportunities focused on data visualization.
30% - Essential - Experimentation and Innovation: Participate in professional development activities related to data visualization to continually improve services. Promote research and experimentation of immersive data visualization technologies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - Education or another directly related field Work Experience - 1+ years in curriculum development
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - Data or Computer Science Work Experience - 2+ years providing consultation to students and researchers. Demonstrated teaching experience in data literacy, and in managing, cleaning, and analyzing large data collections. A portfolio of data visualization work, demonstrating experience with tools like Tableau and and Power BI. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
