We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Technician A position!
Here is some of what you’ll do…
POSITION SUMMARY: Without supervision, the Tech A will perform duties as assigned by the Service Manager in the repair, maintenance, and rebuilding of equipment in the shop or field, in a safe, efficient, and capable manner, and in the least amount of labor hours possible without rework.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Completes work within 95% or less of the established target Flat Rate time.
As well as performing mechanical repairs as directed, the Tech A assists in training personnel and traveling to all parts of HPC territory to assist less skilled technicians in solving problem jobs.
Is proficient in the use of test and diagnostic tools and makes adjustments to machines and components. Is capable of troubleshooting mechanical problems in CAT and Allied products.
Makes warranty recommendations and prepares reports when performing warranty service jobs, resulting in 100% of warranty claims being accepted by the manufacturers.
Accomplishes work within preventative maintenance quality standards and within the time allotted.
Attends all required training classes as directed and obtains passing grades in all.
Reconditions or overhauls major components to manufacturer’s specifications and is capable of assembling, adjusting, testing, and having equipment perform to specifications.
Performs the minimum number of tests necessary to identify the cause of a failure or problem and recommends action to correct the failure or problem.
Maintains a favorable business relationship with customers, suppliers, and personnel from other HPC functions.
Understands fluid sampling, including hydraulic, oil, cooling, and fuel systems.
Uses all diagnostic tools and correctly diagnoses electrical systems, engine components, hydraulic systems, and powertrain systems within 30 minutes.
Reports all unsafe and equipment deficiencies, other than those in the job assignment, to the Service Manager immediately.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a valid Drivers License with a good driving record.
Must have PC skills.
Must be forklift certified or able to be certified within 60 days.
Must own hand tools that are suitable to perform the work noted above.
Must have 10 years experience in the repair and maintenance of CAT equipment and must have all the experience as outlined in HPC training classes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Walking: Moves about on foot, often through uneven terrain
Hands/arms: Operates equipment and hand and power tools.
Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands.
Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts and tools.
Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
Climbing: In and out of equipment.
Vision: Reads work tickets and parts and service books and operates heavy equipment.
Talking: Communicates by radio, phone, and in person.
Hearing: Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around shop and construction sites and to receive communication by radio, phone, and in person.
Sitting: Sits in equipment and vehicles for extended periods.
Laying: Lies in prone position under vehicles and equipment for extended periods.
Lifting: Lifts up to 60lbs. daily, frequent exertion.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
Temp/Weather: Works outside and in shop with variations of temperature and weather.
Exposure: Subject to foul odors, fumes, and harsh substances.
