What does a Loan Operations Representative do?

Responsible for performing a variety of duties in the Loan Operations area throughout the loan life cycle; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the Loan Operations function; coordinating work within the assigned department team; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; performing administrative tasks to support department operations; providing guidance and on-the-job training to Loan Operations Representatives; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports. Often acts as a subject matter expert for processes within the Consumer or Residential Mortgage loan portfolios.

What is needed to be successful in this role?

  • A high school diploma or high school equivalency required, associates in business preferred.
  • Four years experience in related positions normally required.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with a PC and associated programs (such as Microsoft Office).
  • Strong customer service experience.

What does a successful first year in this position look like?

  1. Performs clerical duties: filing (including electronic), data input, data upload verification, processing various transactions on the bank’s core loan servicing system.
  2. Provides basic support to loan origination areas during closing process (i.e. – Verify insurance coverage requirements, loan documents and structure are operationally achievable, etc.)
  3. Collaborates with loan origination areas to resolve issues identified in loan files as part of loan onboarding.
  4. Able to onboard most loan products through manual entry to the bank’s core loan servicing system if automated interfaces to applicable loan origination system is unavailable or fails.
  5. Responds to inquiries or requests for information.
  6. Maintains appropriate records and providing assigned written reports.
  7. Monitors and acts on a variety of system generated exception reports.
  8. Provides basic support to bank lenders on operational viability of modifications to loan accounts.
  9. Resolves all routine and most non-routine issues/disputes within assigned team(s).
  10. Writes and updates procedures to reflect new processes or efficiencies within their area of Loan Operations.
  11. Researches and verifies processes as requested by any banking operations area.
  12. Performs various reconcilement duties as directed.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $19.50 -$22.00 per hour. The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, and performance expectations.
