Position Title: MDVT Engineer Location: Santa Clara, CA (Hybrid) Remote Info: Candidate will travel to external labs daily. They will go to HQ when needed (~2 days per week) and can work from home the other portion of the time. Start Date: Mid-December to beginning of January Job Duration: 12+ months (opportunity for conversion) Project Details: A top technology company in the networking industry is growing. They are looking for someone to perform mechanical testing on network devices and device enclosures. This is a critical part of the product development lifecycle where the mechanical designs are validated and stress-tested to ensure the success of the devices when they get to customer sites.
Must Have Skills:
1. 2-3 years of experience working on mechanical design AND validation, testing in a professional or lab setting
Experience designing data center chassis
System design knowledge of fabric cards, line cards, switch cards
2. Understanding or experience with mechanical design dynamic tests (shock tests, vibration tests, fixture design tests, CAD design, etc) 3. Professional experience hands-on testing networking products 4. Experience traveling to external test labs to perform testing 5. Experience with and strong comprehension of IAAA documentation
6. Ability to lift 30-40 lbs (with help) 7. Experience in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with teammates often and adjusting to changing requirements
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with NEBS testing
Experience with fixture design (high preference)
Experience with liquid cooling (new technology)
Understanding of Pro-Engineer and DOE (Design of Experiments) for mechanical design
Education/Certification Requirements: B.S. Mechanical engineering or comparable degree
Day to day responsibilities:
80% testing
Travel to external lab sites in the bay area
Participate on product teams of engineers involved in specification, design, development, scheduling, and test of hardware
Find and resolve MDVT issues early in the development cycle by actively working with the diagnostic and hardware design teams
Develop and implement test plans
Support the development of new product by executing NEBS qualification, mechanical characterization, and qualification tests
Perform hands on testing of datacenter products using various networking, mechanical and environmental test equipment e.g., Ixia, Smartbits, Shock & Vibration table, Acoustic, HALT and other environmental test chambers, etc.
Analyze test results, identify issues, and recommend corrective action
20% documentation, reporting, working with shipping requirements, fixture design
Review, edit, and release test reports for the products you've tested
Develop and improve mechanical test processes
Closely interface/engage with cross functional product teams (HW, SW, NPIE, MFG, PM) to address any MDVT dependencies to meet the project milestones
