Job Description:

The Academic Policy & HR Coordinator provides support for the implementation and execution of campus and university policy and compliance activities, with special attention to those in the area of Faculty Affairs, and provides secondary support for HR related actions and processes for the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor. The position will primarily support the required conflict of interest and conflict of commitment disclosure process and the implementation of required university-led and campus-led training. Additional responsibilities will include processing requests for academic leaves of absence, support for administrative-level searches, and faculty recruitment and retention initiatives. The position will be familiar with Board of Regents Bylaws, Board of Regents policy, and Executive Memorandum; University of Nebraska-Lincoln Bylaws, Guidelines for the Evaluation of Faculty, Chancellor's Memorandum, and Dean's Memos.



The Academic Policy & HR Coordinator provides excellent customer service to faculty and campus partners and will join an energetic, service-centered, and team-oriented staff in an office that strives to leverage individual strengths, talents, and interests.



Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience working with faculty affairs, policy development, policy interpretation, human resources and/or compliance; equivalent education/experience considered.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience with human resources terminology and practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze complex information, think critically and make appropriate decisions.

  • Knowledge of higher education and university culture.

  • Ability to take initiative and to independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform required job functions in situations where numerous and competing demands exist, and the ability to maintain flexibility and to adjust workload as job priorities shift.

  • Ability to research policies, analyze data, and recommend actions in situations where precedent guidelines do not exist.

  • Ability to use technology and software systems, Excel effectively.




Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working with compliance, academic policies, and faculty in a university setting.

  • Experience performing HR-related functions at a university.
