We support nearly 900 student-athletes who compete on 36 intercollegiate athletics teams and also support the university's physical education, recreation and wellness initiatives. As Stanford transitions to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the assistant coach is responsible for running practices, giving lessons to students, traveling with the team to NCAA competitions, evaluating prospects for athletic recruitment, and supporting administrative tasks necessary to run a Division I athletic team. We seek a coach with a strong commitment to NCAA Division I-A athletics, proven coaching success, and a commitment to women's athletics and holistic student-athlete development. This is a fixed-term position.
Your responsibilities include:

    Strengthen and maintain a nationally competitive women's and men's Fencing program by helping to develop a competitive strategy to compete for Conference and NCAA Championships.Recruit on a national level by identifying student-athletes that match Stanford's unique academic and athletic requirements.Work effectively with staff members in the areas of compliance, student development, external affairs, facilities/operations, equipment operations, athletic training, nutrition, and sports performance.Schedule and conduct regular practices in and out of season. Instruct the team in a variety of techniques, warmups, and drills.Provide one on one lessons to fencers.Travel with the team to NCAA competitions for active and productive strip coaching.Observe fencers during practices and bouts and provide constructive feedback on their performance.Perform armory duties as needed.Assist with limited administrative duties including, but not limited to, travel logistics and recruitment.Build strong relationships with fencing alumni and supporters of the program.Participate in development and community service efforts, as appropriate and assigned.Adhere to and enforce all Stanford, Conference, and NCAA regulations and policies.Other duties as assigned to meet the requirement of the position.

Qualifications:
At least three years of fencing coaching or a combination of similar skills and backgrounds that demonstrate the competency and technical skills needed to compete at the highest level in the NCAA. Working within the DAPER Way, the candidate must embrace scholar-athleticism, demonstrate a high level of excellence, lead with courage, and have outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
DAPER's Integrity:

This position, along with all DAPER coaches and staff, is responsible for the integrity of Stanford's intercollegiate athletics program and for the reputation of Stanford University. This position is responsible for ensuring that all involvement with Athletics Department activities maintains the integrity of the University's reputation and does not negatively impact the relationship between the University and its faculty, staff, students and alumni. Additionally, this position must comply with University policies and procedures, NCAA and Pac-12 rules and regulations.The expected pay range for this position is $68,000-70,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
