Department Summary
The Mathematics Department at UNT is a comprehensive doctoral degree-granting department with 25 tenure-track and tenured faculty members, 29 lecturers and adjuncts, and 53 graduate students. Tenured and tenure-track faculty members pursue research in mathematics. Many are internationally renowned in their areas of expertise. Mathematics Department instructors teach graduate students, math majors, science and engineering majors, specialized service math classes for students in business and education, and university core math classes required for all UNT students. At every level, Mathematics Department members are dedicated to providing their students with effective, high-quality instruction. Position Overview
The Department of Mathematics seeks qualified individuals for Its Adjunct Instructor Pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting Is for the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.
The anticipated need is for Adjunct Instructors whose duties may include, but are not limited to teaching generally lower-division mathematics courses such as: beginning/intermediate algebra, algebra, business math, business calculus, calculus, survey of mathematics, elementary statistics, linear algebra, and differential equations. Prospective adjuncts must be available to teach in-person on the UNT Denton campus.
Minimum Qualifications
* For Developmental Mathematics Courses - Bachelor's degree in mathematics
* For credit-bearing courses - Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or related field including 18 graduate semester credit hours in mathematics (MATH) or statistics (STAT) prefixed courses
Preferred Qualifications
* PhD in mathematics or closely related field
* Experience with online learning platforms such as: Canvas, MyMathlab, Webassign, ALEKS
* Experience supervising teaching assistants
* Experience teaching mathematics classes with over 100 students
* Available to teach early morning and late evening (Monday - Friday)
* Experience teaching developmental math classes
