Educational & Experience Requirement: Must be a SHSU student with a SHSU Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher. Must maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA and show satisfactory academic progress. First-year students will only be considered if other experience and education is exceptional.
Nature and Purpose of Position: Assist the Marketing &Communications Coordinator with the ongoing work and development of marketing materials and promotional initiatives. The position will be responsible for assisting with social media and on-line initiatives, event planning, creating, or updating presentation and design files, and communicating with internal and external creative service providers and media groups.
Supervision Given & Received: Works under the direction of Marketing & Communications Coordinator. This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities: Plan, create, and execute social media campaigns and monitoring for engagement and success. Engage with followers and other SHSU social media accounts. Writing and editing communication plans. Creation of print collateral and graphics using software such as Adobe Creative Cloud products including InDesign, Photoshop, and Express. Event planning and coordination. General administrative and communications support as assigned.
Student will need a valid State ID card or Driver's License and a Social Security card. Students must be prompt, have a pleasant, courteous disposition, and able to carry out instruction with limited supervision. Strong administrative and organizational skills, initiative, and attention to detail are keys to success. Must have basic computer knowledge and experience with social media.
